STEPHANIE ANN SHORTRIDGE

INTERIOR DESIGNER

We have all heard the saying,  “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” That statement has guided me over the years with me and I couldn’t agree more. For almost a decade I’ve had the opportunity to turn my passion into a lifelong career. I am truly obsessed with design and all aspects of the field. During the conceptual phase, I design the interiors based on the architecture of the home. The personality and wish list of the client are very important to me. In the end I want the project to resonate with the client. I’m a true believer that the aesthetics of your home should be a reflection of who you are.

My design passion was derived from my family at a very young age. Growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona I was able to view beautiful estates with my Mother being a real estate agent. My Father being a home builder, showed me how a patch of dirt can be turned into the homestead for the future of others. I also spent my summers in my Aunt’s art gallery in north Scottsdale. I was taught the composition of portrait and landscape artwork. These are all the experiences that have fostered my pursuit of interior design.

Fast forward to now, I am the Senior Interior Designer at Rafterhouse. I document my design lifestyle on Instagram @stephanie_shortidge. In my free time I enjoy keeping up on the latest fashions, gardening, and investing in real estate.

EXPERIENCE

In 2011 I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Interior Design at The Art Institute of Phoenix.

During my studies, I interned full-time which led to an assistant designer position with IMI Designs in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2010. I worked on many types of projects including high-end residential homes, new construction, remodels and many others. These projects were located throughout Arizona, Truckee, CA, and Tahoe, CA.

A few years later, I moved to Los Angeles, CA. Starting my LA career, where I worked in an engineering firm, pulling permits for commercial projects and developing floor plans for electrical work and fire alarms.

I then switched back into high end residential design. This led me to work for Ryan White Designs. Our projects focused on high end clients and celebrities seeking luxury dream homes throughout Southern California.

2016, I moved back to AZ to support my husband, Kelly’s 5 year general surgery residency in Phoenix. 2021-2022 Kelly and I were able to experience living in Houston, Texas. During Kelly’s year of specialized surgical training I traveled back and forth from PHX to Houston. Currently, my day to day job is leading the interior design department for Rafterhouse. Rafterhouse is a high end residential design and build company located in Arcadia, Phoenix, AZ.

Designer by day and Realtor by night, I work on real estate development with my husband for our own business, Shortridge & Co. In 2021 I decided to become a real estate agent to help facilitate our transactions.
